KARE TAKI or DRY WATERFALL

work created in response to an invitation by ARMO (Women Art Oaxaca) to participate in a land art exhibition
GOING UP THE MOUNTAIN, RISING TO THE SKY

Invoking water and creating a space for meditation.

Seeing a "mountain" in the center of the piece of land I chose to create my work in, made me think of a zen garden in which, often, there is a "kagetsuda" or gravel mountain, representing Mount Fuji.

I gathered hundreds of rocks that were strewn about, placing them in piles according to size, and, later, tracing with them, from the top of the "mountain" to the edge of the plot, a "kare taki" or dry waterfall, an element suggesting as running water does, that which is constant and changing at the same time.
